Chewa people were primarily originated from Luba area in the Democratic Republic of Congo formerly called ' Zaire'. In Malawi the last Kalonga Sosola #8 was believed to be slained by Yao some years back in the area called ' Makhamba' Dedza district. On 23 August ,the culture grouping, Malawi Chewa Heritage fondly called' chifukwato Cha Chewa ' organized the memorial event where the tombstone of Kalonga Sosola #8 was unvailed. The event was attended by different senior chiefs from Malawi and people from all of walks of life who gathered at Makhamba in Dedza district. During the event, chiefs conducted the libation in honour of the spirits of kalonga sosola #8 and immediately after the traditional ceremony,kalonga sosola from T/ A Khombedza in Salima assumed the tittle' Kalonga Sosola #9 who is now a king for Chewa people in Malawi.Kalonga Sosola #9 comes from Phiri clan. In his recent key note addresses, Kalonga Sosola #9 has been preaching about unity and love among Chewa people and hardworking to bring fortunes. The inauguration ceremony of Kalonga Sosola #9 will take place in Chikwawa, Salima district on 1 November this year.
