The village of Slatyne in Derhachivska community lies about 13 kilometers from the Russian border. Residents of the border village Kozacha Lopan come here to receive humanitarian aid and pensions. About 600 people still remain in the settlement. They complain that in winter they were left without gas and firewood. On the other hand, local authorities say they repeatedly offered them evacuation — because services are unable to reach the village, repair utilities, or assist the locals.
