¿Puede ser el Sahel una amenaza para Europa?

The Sahel region, a 6,000-km semi-desert strip that crosses Africa from the Atlantic to the Red Sea, has gone from being a historic bridge of cultures to becoming the main focus of jihadist violence on the planet. Usually ignored by the international spotlight, it now accounts for more than half of all deaths from terrorism worldwide. In this video report, which you can watch above, we analyze the serious consequences of instability in the Sahel, a phenomenon that now transcends African borders. One of the most visible is the increase in forced displacement, with thousands of people crossing the main migration corridors toward Europe. The presence of armed groups and criminal networks along these routes has intensified fears on the old continent regarding potential security risks. However, La Vanguardia's Africa correspondent, Xavier Aldekoa, warns of the danger of stigmatizing those fleeing the region: "Statistics show that the presence of terrorists among migrants is nonexistent or, at most, extremely small."
