Taking Off on a Customer

The plaintiff says he bought a shearling coat on layaway from the defendant’s store, but when he returned to make the final payment and pick it up, the store was closed. He is suing for a refund. The defendant says he owns two stores and only closed one of them. He claims the other location is just four doors away and well known, and believes the plaintiff simply changed his mind about buying the coat.
