Isle of Wight's First Railway and What's Left Behind
The Newport to Cowes Isle of Wight Railway The Newport & Cowes Railway was once the very first Standard Gauge Railway on the Isle of Wight. The name of the Railway changed many times over its lifetime and included 2 intermediate stations and a 208 yard long tunnel too operating between Cowes Station and Newport Station form 1862 when the railway opened until closure in 1966. In this railway walk video i follow sections of this former trackbed as much as possible whilst adding in nostalgic images and footage too. Would you like to help support my Channel?
