Gov’t Orders Urgent Sanitation Upgrade at Nchelenge Boarding

By Chansa Kunda Government has directed the Nchelenge District Council to urgently improve the sanitation system at Nchelenge Boarding School. The directive follows the discovery that the school has been relying on pit latrines to cater for more than 2,000 learners. Vice President, Mutale Nalumango expressed disappointment over the poor sanitation conditions, describing it as unacceptable for learners when the Government has provided alternative solutions through the increased Constituency Development Fund -CDF-. The Vice President was speaking in response to concerns raised by Chief Nshimba of the Shila people in Luapula Province during a courtesy call. Mrs. Nalumango said it is unacceptable for councils to neglect critical issues such as sanitation when funding is readily available through initiatives like the CDF. Meanwhile, Chieftainess Kanyembo speaking through a representative, appealed to the Government to construct additional boarding facilities in the area. #Nchelenge #BoardingSchool #Sanitation #MutaleNalumango #CDF #LuapulaProvince #ZNBCNews
