It took Dr. Berg over 30 years to understand the mistakes he made on his path to health. Dr. Berg's 7 Biggest Mistakes. Don't Repeat Them! 1. Taking a Hundred Different Vitamins Every Day. Dr. Berg didn't know that vitamins only work with a good diet. He simply wasn't getting enough macronutrients (protein, fat, and carbohydrates). 2. Colon cleansing. Detoxes were all the rage. These flush out all the beneficial bacteria, as well as electrolytes, which is very dangerous. Essentially, you're not eating anything, but consuming fiber, apple juice, and vitamins. The problem was this: if Dr. Berg hadn't been drinking apple juice, he would have entered ketosis and felt fine. Juices are not allowed during cleanses and fasts. The body can't switch to burning fat, and you're always hungry. 3. Dr. Berg thought he'd start eating healthy after graduating from college. In college, he ate nothing but carbs and drank very strong coffee. If he'd reconsidered his diet in college, his brain would have worked much better. 4. Right Shoulder Pain. Dr. Berg mistakenly thought it was his right shoulder that was causing the pain and was trying to address that specific issue. But right shoulder pain is almost always a sign of problems with the gallbladder and bile ducts in the liver. 5. Intermittent fasting is nonsense. In fact, snacking increases insulin. It's frequent meals that cause a lot of problems. 6. Kale Shakes. Dr. Berg drank too many kale shakes. Overloading the body with fiber, especially from kale shakes, causes bloating and intestinal inflammation. It's best to avoid kale shakes. 7. Magnesium Deficiency. One way to prevent kidney stones is magnesium.
