[TAS] NES Tetris Maxout with Style / Inverse Secret Grade
I did a lot of things in this TAS. My initial goal was just to create an inverse secret grade. This means that I build a diagonal stack of single tiles as high as I can. Unfortunately, "as high as I can" is only 16 rows, so I decided to take advantage of a glitch in the game to build more. If you clear a row at the top of the screen, a row is also cleared at the very bottom. This is used in the fastest maxout TAS to score tetrises in 3 lines, but in my case, I just wanted to move the secret grade downwards. After 7 shifts down, I returned to building the pattern up to the level 19 transition. From there, I went through and built a tetris on top of each block of the secret grade until I eventually hit the bottom. From the bottom, I then manipulate the RNG to give me only white pieces as I push my way through to a maxout at level 34. Finally, I write my name on the high score screen in as roundabout a way as possible. Note: The next piece depends entirely on what frame it is generated on, not on what buttons have been pressed. This is why there is a lot of pausing, it's to get the next piece to generate as I want it. The spicy movement is not to manipulate RNG, I just felt that not enough TASes of Tetris take advantage of the fact that they're a TAS. They all use such plain movement, so I made sure not to. My favorite bit of movement occurs at 3:12; it's a quadruple tuck which involves 3 taps and a spin. Pretty much the farthest you can tuck a piece on lvl 18. Rerecords: 8113 This took 9 days to TAS, working on it on and off. Probably 12-15 hours of work if I had to estimate.
