The truth prevails! Almost two weeks after the devastating earthquake of June 24, public spaces in the Venezuelan capital awoke under tight institutional control. Journalistic teams witnessed the violent eviction of the encampment in Plaza Venezuela, while along Bolívar Avenue, a massive and unusual deployment of security personnel was observed guarding the families remaining in tents. Meanwhile, near La Hoyada, close to the Nuevo Circo, authorities erected a pro-government platform that completely blocked vehicular traffic, a measure interpreted by those affected as an attempt to stifle and silence the citizen protests. In contrast, in the Altagracia parish, La Moneda Square and the area surrounding the National Pantheon remain occupied by hundreds of refugees from the Great Housing Mission Venezuela (GMVV). In the "7 de Octubre" housing complex, the 16 families living in the temporary encampment expressed their firm resolve not to leave the street until they receive real structural solutions within their own building, whose staircases have completely detached from the walls between the ground floor and the second floor. The residents revealed that they unanimously rejected relocation to the "temporary shelters" offered by government spokespeople. The displaced residents argued that they had already endured the traumatic experience of living in state-run shelters 17 years ago, describing it as "difficult and inhumane." Therefore, they demand that the promised aid—which includes sending engineers to restructure the ground floor walls and assess the gas pipe fractures—be implemented immediately and on-site, categorically refusing to return to the overcrowded conditions of government shelters.
