Why Tourists Ignore This Beautiful Valley? | Madaklasht

If you are looking for a place in Pakistan where nature is still pure, peaceful, and far away from crowds, then Madaklasht Valley in Lower Chitral is a perfect destination. Madaklasht Valley is located around 40KM from Chitral city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, at an altitude of almost 8,500 feet. This hidden valley is famous for its cold weather, fresh air, beautiful mountains, rivers, pine forests, waterfalls, glaciers, and peaceful local life. The people of Madaklasht originally came from Badakhshan many years ago and most of the local community belongs to the Ismaili sect of Islam. A unique Dari Persian language is spoken here along with Khowar, Urdu, and Pashto. Madaklasht Valley is also included in the Integrated Tourism Zone (ITZ) project of KPK because of its natural beauty and tourism potential. In summer, tourists visit places like Andiveer Glacier, Kurdodh Waterfall, Darbar Shahi natural springs, and nearby trekking routes towards Golain, Laspur, and Kumrat Valley. In winter, Madaklasht becomes famous for snow sports like skiing, skating, and snowboarding during the annual snow festival. Our journey to Madaklasht Valley started from Drosh Bazaar on 5 April by bike. The ride from Drosh to Madaklasht takes around 2 to 3 hours depending on weather and road conditions. As soon as we left the main road and turned towards Madaklasht, the real offroad adventure started. One side of the road had a flowing river and the other side had huge dry mountains with small green villages in between. Because of continuous rain for the last two days, the road was very slippery, muddy, and full of water crossings. Light rain was still falling during our bike ride, which made the adventure even more difficult and exciting. The roads are not easy for normal cars, especially during rainy weather. A 4x4 vehicle or jeep is a much better option, but for bikers and adventure lovers, this route is an unforgettable experience in Northern Pakistan. After almost three hours of riding with many short stops for enjoying the views, we finally reached Madaklasht Valley. Even though the valley was not fully green in April, the snow-covered mountains and cold weather made the whole journey beautiful and special. We wanted to visit the glacier, lake, and waterfall ahead, but heavy snow had blocked the route, so we could not go further. The people of Madaklasht were extremely kind, humble, and hospitable. Almost everyone we met offered us tea and guided us warmly. This place is highly recommended for bikers, campers, and adventure travelers, but not the best option yet for family tourism because hotels and guest houses are still very limited. Madaklasht is not just a valley, it is peace, silence, and the real beauty of Pakistan that many people still do not know about. If you love hidden places, offroad adventures, mountain valleys, and untouched nature, then Madaklasht Valley should definitely be on your travel list.
