Today we hit the trails on an epic loop itinerary that combines hard work, jaw-dropping views, and massive amounts of history in the heart of the Intelvi Valley. A loop ride of about 38 kilometers and 1,250 meters of elevation gain that will leave you breathless. Starting from San Fedele Intelvi, we warm up our legs by climbing towards Pigra along the scenic SP13 road, before merging onto the old military road. Passing the Alpeggi (alpine pastures) of Colonno and Boffalora, we face a fully paved climb but on a very rough surface marked by time. Through steep and steady gradients, it takes us up to 1,576 meters at the Venini Refuge (Rifugio Venini). Up there, the effort pays off: the view opens up 360 degrees, offering an incredible dual gaze over Lake Como and Lake Lugano at the exact same time. But the true heart of this journey is exploring the Cadorna Line (Linea Cadorna): a colossal engineering work dating back to World War I, made up of kilometers of trenches, concrete walkways, and bunkers carved directly into the rock... where a single cannon shot was never actually fired. And after so much history, we dive into the descent towards Ponna: a pure flow trail deep in the woods, characterized by old concrete ramps and cobblestone sections.
