D&RGW 340 Second Excursion, June 6, 2026

On June 6, the final excursion of D&RGW 340 occurred with the train departing Durango and headed to Cascade Canyon. We caught it as it came across the Animas River Bridge and several points on it's way toward Rockwood. Later that afternoon, I was listening to the scanner and heard that it was stopped at Home Ranch siding on its return trip. It was going to meet 473, that was pulling a wedding charter to Cascade Canyon. Finally, we catch it in Durango as it snakes along the Animas River.
