Runners: This Simple Habit Might Make You Faster

For the last 6 months I’ve added a simple habit to support my running: walking 10,000 steps every day — and that’s not including my running steps. At 47, I wanted to see if a small, consistent change could help me get fitter and faster without adding more hard training. So I committed to hitting 10,000 walking steps every single day for 6 months. The results surprised me: • Lost 5kg • Hit a Half Marathon PB • Felt fitter, leaner and recovered better between runs. The biggest takeaway? Walking is seriously underrated. It helped increase my daily activity, improved recovery, and built a stronger aerobic base without adding stress to my training. Because the benefits have been so noticeable, this habit isn’t going anywhere — I’m keeping the 10k steps going. In this video I talk about: • Why I started walking 10,000 steps a day • How I fit it around running and normal life • The changes I noticed in fitness and recovery • Why it helped me run faster at 47. If you're a runner looking for a simple way to improve fitness, lose a bit of weight, and recover better, this might be the easiest upgrade you can make.
