ALBI Y CASTRES (EN NAVIDAD) DOS CIUDADES CON ENCANTO EN EL SUR DE FRANCIA
Join us as we explore Albi, but first, we'll make a pit stop along the way to enjoy picture-postcard views: everything completely covered in snow ❄️. A perfect moment to rest, grab a bite to eat, and soak in the winter scenery before continuing our journey. Upon arriving in Albi, we're immersed in its beautiful Christmas atmosphere. We love its Christmas market because it maintains a very local feel, with minimal tourist crowds and a truly authentic ambiance. This year, it's even bigger, with more food and entertainment options, and a lively atmosphere, especially since it's a Friday night. We revisit this city, which we've been to before, but which always deserves another visit. The undisputed star is the impressive Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, one of the most spectacular in France. Its imposing red brick exterior and incredibly decorated interior make it a must-see. Although we didn't go into the choir this time, we admired the main nave, which continues to leave us speechless. Strolling through the old town, we stumbled almost by chance upon the cloister of the Collegiate Church of San Salvi, a corner steeped in history and tranquility. We discovered curiosities such as the story of a bricklayer who managed to be buried there thanks to his work, and explored the interior of the church, where its paintings, sculptures, and interesting historic organ stand out. We also took the opportunity to try some sweets that had been recommended to us… and we can confirm that they were delicious. The kind you start eating and can't stop. We said goodbye to Albi and its lively Christmas market, where the safety and pleasant atmosphere allow you to enjoy yourself in complete peace, and set off for our next stop: Castres. In Castres, we arrived at Place Jean Jaurès, the heart of the Christmas market, filled with wooden chalets, traditional food, and mulled wine. But what truly makes this market special is its original literary theme: the entire area is transformed into a fairytale, with truly beautiful and unique decorations. We explored some of the city's highlights, such as the municipal theater and the Goya Museum, where we had the opportunity to see videomapping shows that illuminated its facades with spectacular projections. We also strolled through the elegant gardens of the former episcopal palace, designed by the famous gardener of Versailles. But without a doubt, one of the most special moments was admiring the famous colorful houses along the Agout River. Besides their charm during the day, at night they come alive with videomapping projections on their facades, creating a magical and unique atmosphere that makes this one of the most beautiful and photographed spots in Castres. We also discovered local curiosities, such as the city's peculiar cleaning system, which uses a vacuum cleaner designed to keep the streets spotless. A trip full of details, history, anecdotes, and Christmas spirit that we hope you enjoy as much as we did. Have you ever been to Albi or Castres? Would you like to visit them at Christmas?
