⁴ᴷ Okayama: Bitchu Takahashi Station (岡山県: 備中高梁駅) - Japan Walking Tour (March, 2025)

Just like last month, I took the ferry from Yokosuka Port and arrived at Shin-Moji Port in Kitakyushu City. From there, I crossed the Kanmon Strait back to Honshu and began my journey along the Seto Inland Sea, heading toward Tokyo. After traveling from Hiroshima Prefecture to Okayama Prefecture and visiting Niimi Station, I next made my way to Bitchū-Takahashi Station. I came here wanting to capture a townscape quietly removed from the hustle and bustle of busy city centers. The station building was rebuilt around ten years ago and now serves as a multi-purpose facility for Takahashi City. The library inside is especially well-regarded, known for its calm and welcoming atmosphere. About a five-minute walk from the station, there’s a covered shopping arcade with a unique charm. I’ve visited this area several times before, drawn by its distinctive character. This town was once the castle town of the Bitchū-Matsuyama Domain, and you can still feel that history in the quiet, elegant streets.
