Takahashi (or Bitchu-Takahashi) is a historic city in Okayama Prefecture. It is famous for Bitchu-Matsuyama Castle, which is both Japan's oldest (1240) and highest (430 m/1,410 ft). The Old Town contains many historic buildings in the samurai district as well as Raikyuji Temple, which is famous for its rock garden. Because of its deep history, Takahashi is known as "Little Kyoto."
