Behind every beautiful patio is a mountain of hidden preparation. In this video, I walk through the entire process of getting the foundation right—because if the base fails, the whole job fails. In this build: Excavating the heavy clay Installing proper drainage Laying the geotextile cloth Base layers: GAP60 and GAP40 metal Screeding the sand base (the secret to a perfectly flat finish!) The final, satisfying lay of the pavers This project was a reminder that the real work isn't the finish, it’s the foundation. If you’re planning a paving project, don’t take shortcuts on the base!
