Famous duo, Gentile and Godfrey

Witness recreations of the early missions flown over France and Germany by World War II aces Don Gentile and John Godfrey. Don Gentile was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for the 8 March 1944 mission where he and John Godfrey claimed a total of six aircraft. BM530 didn’t have Gentile's personal logo, the name "Buckeye Don", or the aircraft letter "T". Gentile flew Spitfire missions with 133/336th squadron from 22 Jun 1942 to 1 Apr 1943. "Buckeye Don" was probably BL776 as Gentile flew it on 26 of his last 43 Spitfire missions from 1 Feb to 1 Apr 1943. from AFHRA records, neither Gentile nor Godfrey were flying their assigned P-47s on the 5 Jan 1944 mission.
