TROYA: Lo que Realmente Pasó. La ciudad real detrás de la Odisea de Homero

Before Homer composed a single verse of the Iliad, a real city already existed, built and rebuilt at least nine times on the same hill. For centuries, it controlled the most coveted passage in the ancient world, and its name is inscribed on clay tablets that remained unreadable for three thousand years. This documentary doesn't tell the poem; it tells what lies beneath it. We travel to the hill of Hisarlik, in what is now northwestern Turkey, to answer a deceptively simple question: Why there, exactly? The answer lies in the water and wind of the Hellespont, the strait that connected the Aegean Sea to the Black Sea and transformed a modest hill into one of history's most enduring cities. The Hittite archives of Hattusa hold the most astonishing discovery: the name of Wilusa—the Troy of archaeologists—and that of one of its kings, Alaksandu, signatory of an international treaty with the most powerful empire of his time, written in cuneiform around 1280 BCE. We analyze the Tawagalawa letter, the frictions between Hatti and Ahhiyawa for control of that corner of the world, and the great Bronze Age collapse that simultaneously brought down the Hittite Empire, the Mycenaean palaces of Greece, and the hilltop city itself. Layer by layer, from Troy Zero to Troy Nine, we separate what the archaeological record demonstrates from what remains hypothetical. And we also recount the final irony: the story of Heinrich Schliemann, the man who made the Hisarlik excavation world-famous and who, unwittingly and unintentionally, forever erased part of the truth he sought. A journey through the real Troy —the one of the strata, the buried jars, the diplomatic treaties and the walls that no one can ever excavate again in the same way— told with the rigor of the sources and the honesty of recognizing where the evidence ends and where the legend begins.
