PENSAMENTO ALTERADO: SOBRE O PENSAR E SUAS ALTERAÇÕES NA PSICOPATOLOGIA- sacoplimca pj Ep. 07
Changes in thought are numerous, and there are still some disagreements among authors. I have tried to gather the main ones here, grouping those that are eventually used as similar. I hope you enjoy them! --- Regarding concepts, changes are less common. We have the condensation of concepts, when two ideas begin to merge into one, as well as the disintegration of concepts, when concepts are lost altogether. Judgment and reasoning, when articulated, create a form; therefore, most of the following changes may be indistinguishable from these three types. Magical thinking is when fantastic logics are established. In particular, the sense of causality is maintained, but in a non-rational way. There are also changes regarding the weakening of judgments and reasoning, when logic exists but is lost. Some list vague thinking, tangentiality (when one deviates from the focus), or even more profoundly, the disintegration of thought, almost making a "word soup". But all these changes can eventually be described as disorganized thinking. Another change characterized by "circling around the same subject" is rumination, when one actively thinks about something. There is also worry, when there is a certain anticipatory affect involved, but the thought is voluntary. Similarly, there are thoughts that come without warning (intrusive), as well as some that, once established, are difficult to abandon (resistant). When you combine intrusive and resistant thoughts, you have obsession – if this is constant, you have obsessive thinking. In terms of form, changes in speed stand out: acceleration and slowing of thought. An even more extreme change than acceleration is flight of ideas, when you have the feeling that thoughts are racing so fast that you cannot control them. Regarding content, we have predominant thoughts about certain subjects, or worried thinking. But it is from the content and linked to reasoning and judgments that the most important changes in thought arise: ideations and delusions. If a person has recurring thoughts about death, or ideas of taking their own life: suicidal ideation; if it's about the lives of others, homicidal ideation. If an idea is very strong, with an inflexible belief, we observe a delusion. If the belief is strong but questionable, it may be a delusional idea. Most disorders involve alterations in thought, but schizophrenia spectrum disorders, with delusions, and mood disorders, mainly with suicidal ideation, stand out. Of course, in addition to obsessions in OCD. I've tried to gather a lot of information here, enjoy!
