World Bee Day at Mukutan Conservancy

Happy World Bee Day! We accompanied our apiarist, Linus, to visit some of the beekeeping groups in our Mukutan Wild Honey project, including Osorion Beekeeping Group from Tebelekwa in Baringo County and Hekima Self Help Group from Luoniek in Laikipia County. What we found was more than honey. We found women and men speaking about income, dignity, and opportunity. We found communities turning beekeeping into a source of livelihood. And we found a powerful reminder that when bees are cared for, people and landscapes benefit too. Through the Mukutan Wild Honey project, Mukutan Conservancy donated 1,000 modern beehives to 26 community groups living around the conservancy, supporting them with training, guidance, and market access through our in-house apiarist. Over the years, this project has grown into one of the many ways conservation can directly support the communities. This World Bee Day, we celebrate the bees, the beekeepers, and the quiet but powerful partnership between people and the planet. Because sometimes, the smallest creatures carry some of the biggest impact. #worldbeeday #MukutanWildHoney #MukutanConservancy #CommunityLivelihoods #Laikipia #Baringo
