Carthage | Song of a Fallen Empire
Carthage was an ancient Phoenician city founded on the Gulf of Tunis in the 9th century BCE. From around the 6th century BCE, it grew into a major Mediterranean trading power, known for its ships, wealth, and influence across North Africa and the western Mediterranean. Its long rivalry with Rome led to the Punic Wars, which ended with Carthage’s destruction in 146 BCE. Though the city fell, its memory remains as one of the great lost powers of the ancient world.
