The Heart of Bluebird K7. The Last Proper Engine Install
This is the remastered archive footage of the final proper installation of Bluebird K7’s Orpheus jet engine now removed again and silent. This installation was developed over many years to be perfectly integrated into Bluebird K7 and utilized the exact fuel system that powered Donald Campbell on his final run in 1967. It is the last time her true heart was put back into the machine, making it a critical record for the project and for history because only two years later, at the insistence of the Ruskin Museum, this masterpiece was torn out again. Here is a video of that tragic and wholly unnecessary act. • DEATH OF AN ICON. A FUNERAL FOR OUR FRIEND Now, people with no experience of the boat are attempting to install a different engine that has had none of the careful development or OEM support that the Bluebird Project brought to the task. There is an appreciable risk that Bluebird will NEVER again be built to the correct standard. #BluebirdK7 #DonaldCampbell #TheLastTime #EngineeringHistory #JetEngine #ConistonWater #SpeedRecord #Restoration #TheFinalRun
