Coorongooba Campground & Glen Davis Oil Shale Works New South Wales
#Coorongoobacampground #glendavis FOLLOW US: INSTA: / journey_of4 FACEBOOK: n / journeyof4 WEB: https://journeyof4.com.au Set in the Wollemi National Park, Coorongooba Campground is a great camp ground to switch off and reconnect with nature. We stayed 2 nights and found that was enough time to check out the surrounds of the Glen Davis area. It costs $6 booking fee to camp at Coorongooba at that price you can’t get better! The bird life surrounding the campsite is gorgeous. The Capertee River runs along the left hand side of the the entire camp grounds. The drive in is smooth with paved causeways and can be driven through on 2WD unless there has been heavy rain, the causeway may get deep to cross so in wet weather a 4WD is suitable. The Coorongooba campground is in the Capertee Valley which is the second largest canyon in the world, the cliff faces and escarpments surrounding are beautiful and visible as you explore the area. Enjoy watching them at different times of day as the cliff faces colours change. Facilities: There are non-flush, drop toilets, picnic tables and barbecue facilities. All firewood must be brought with you as you cannot buy any firewood in the vicinity unless you drive 1.5 hrs into Lithgow. Open fires are allowed unless there is a total fire ban. There is no phone reception anywhere in the camp ground and surrounding however there is a public phone booth in Glen Davis old town which is only approx 5 mins away in the car. As you drive in to the right you will find the Glen Davis Oil Shale Works lookout which is spectacular and a must to see. It overlooks the entire plant. Heading towards the lookout, you will come across some steps which are steep and the walk over is about 550 metres. We loved our stay and recommend Coorongooba campground to anyone looking at disconnecting from the hustle and bustle and reconnecting with nature.
