Blue Peter and The Great Gathering 90 among Four Pairs of 90s & Two Charters with Four 57s! at Carlisle! 16 August 25 Recorded on Carlisle Citadel Station, at St Nicholas Bridge and at Upperby Junction with views of the LSL Upperby Depot Due to the weather conditions, Blue Peter received significant assistance on its journey between Preston and Carlisle in both directions with LNWR Livered class 57s looking very smart. The driver however knows how to make the train sound good even in such conditions! I'm told he makes the loco slip when leaving Carlisle having it in reverse! The Northern Belle Settle & Carlisle special had its usual complement of West Coast 57s despite Tangmere being back in service. Presumably they are keeping it back for tomorrow's Waverley. We see five intermodals: the Tesco with its Class 88 and four others behind pairs of Freightliner 90s. We have Green ones, Orange ones and the newly painted Grey one. I know its meant to look like an original Freightliner container but those were pulled by Blue 86s back in the day! Saturdays can be great at Carlisle!!
