Everything in Jesus' words often sounds like a "paradox." It seems difficult, arduous, and even impossible. This applies to obedience and humility, mercy and the Cross, and even the Beatitudes. However, Jesus goes further than this. He tells us to lay down our lives and to accept the prophet. Let us remember that we have received the gift of the "prophetic office." The prophet is the Holy Spirit. It helps us to read the present of others from within. Let us examine our love for God. Let us also examine the way we accept the Cross. Above all, let us examine the way we accept one another. Let us remember that the Christian life is ruined by the 'inability to accept.' Let us never forget today's message.
