Explore & see what is out behind and beyond Madame Sherri's castle in Chesterfield New Hampshire. Everyone goes there to visit the early 1900s ruins of the very cool place where the massive foundation and iconic staircase still stand. But , how many people do not realize that they are walking upon land that had been settled hundreds of years ago by American colonists. Follow the old dirt road and pay attention to the rock walls and you will find that there is a 1700s 1800s homesite back there. A large cellar hole where a big colonial home once stood and the signs of land improvement. Take the easy hike and go exploring behind Sherri's castle and you will have a much greater appreciation for the time in between these abandoned sites. History is everywhere here in New England, you just need to go looking for it and pay attention to the signs.
