Roof of the world |S2-EP2|

Day 1 in LAOS was supposed to be a fresh start after the border nightmare, instead it turned into the scariest second of the trip so far. The heat is brutal, the dust is endless, and the last 20 km turn into a chopped up, truck-infested battlefield. Somewhere on that stretch a metal shard lying on the road made things in an instant, leaving me and Ibex stranded in the middle of nowhere. A kind local stops to help, but with zero common language things get interesting. In the confusion he thinks have given him my ratchet straps, the same straps holding all of my gear together and I only realise later that I have already lost my camping mattress thanks to a loose strap earlier in the day. Thankfully, some new friends from Singapore roll into the story. They help me out, and the simple dust mask they give me becomes gold on these dirt roads. I’ll need it for what’s coming. Because somewhere between the trucks, the ruts and the fading light, there’s one overtake on a blind corner that turns into a true “this could be it” moment. Beautiful mountain scenery, new friendships, adventure, lost gear, language barriers, and a heart stopping close call all in my very first day riding Laos. 👉 Watch Season 2 Episode 2 “The Scariest Second Yet” to see how i get out of this mess and keep the Roof of the World journey alive.
