How to make a leather thimble

In this video I show you how to make a leather thimble to fit your finger. This style has an open top. I take you through the complete process from making your pattern through to sewing and finishing the thimble. I am using a scrap piece of leather about 2 - 3mm thick, some hemp thread from Tandy leather (any strong thread will do) and a saddlers harness needle No. 3. I use my leather thimble to protect the finger next to my metal thimble as I find the metal rim can rub when I am sewing gloves. Please select a leather suitable for the intended use of the thimble.
