Spotlight: Ballaarat

The antipodean cousin of the Talyllyn railway's Dolgoch. Built in Ballarat in 1871 so a design dervied from that of Fletcher Jenning's 'Patent Locomotive' including the peculiar folded-back valve-gear, Ballaarat is today the oldest Australian-built locomotive to survive.
