The Oodnadatta Track is one of Australia's most iconic and popular outback journeys, stretching from Marla to Marree through South Australia's red centre. This legendary track follows sections of the old Ghan Railway, weaving its way through a landscape of endless horizons, hot springs and remarkable relics of the past. But on this adventure, we didn't do the Oodnadatta Track the traditional way. Instead of simply driving from one end to the other, we ventured off the beaten track to visit some of the outback's other hidden gems, you simply must do! Our journey takes us to the geographical centre of Australia, out to the edge of the Simpson Desert, and into the warm artesian waters of Dalhousie Springs. Along the way, we enjoy a cold beer (or two plus a haircut!) at some legendary outback pubs, explore the historic ruins and underground bakery at Farina and meet some of the colourful characters that make the Oodnadatta Track so unique.
