Thank you for watching the overseas edition of the Let's Go on a Mysterious Train series. This is the second part of our journey from Vienna, Austria to Salzburg. The WestBahn, an up-and-coming private railway company, has been steadily increasing its user base while offering sometimes outrageous discounts. But what seemed like smooth sailing was about to happen. Furthermore, the Austrian Federal Railways, which challenged them, got serious about their high-speed train, the Railjet, putting them in a difficult position. So they came up with a clever plan...!! It was a surprising move, even for JR Central, which replaced the N700 series with the N700 series. Due to a lack of information and materials, I was only able to briefly touch on the China issue, which has been a hot topic for this company for some time. Dec. 2023 Update: I was able to get a glimpse of the Chinese-made trains, which I plan to share in the next chapter.
