In an irrigation district, a 2" diameter siphon has the dimensions shown in Figure 3.19 and is placed over a dike. Estimate the expected flow rate under a hydraulic head of 0.50 m and the available pressure head at the midpoint of the horizontal section of the siphon. Adopt the following local head loss coefficients: inlet Ke = 0.5, outlet Ks = 1.0, 45° bend K = 0.2. Pipe material: cast iron with asphalt coating. Use the Darcy-Weisbach equation.
