Explore a vast, re-imagined kingdom in Hollow Knight: Silksoul, a free upcoming mod for Silksong! Silksoul is an upcoming mod for Hollow Knight: Silksong that attempts to bring back the world of Pharloom to its state during early 2021 development. Cut areas like the Red Coral Gorge and The Gloom will return, with areas like Hunter's March (Hunters' Nest) being adjusted to align with the April 2021 map and known cut content. Cut mechanics will also be reintroduced. In addition to reviving cut content, the game's difficulty will be increased, through changes like boss buffs, and all-new content like new interactions will also be implemented to deliver a fresh take on the game, offering a "B-Side" to Silksong for returning players. This mod is massive in scope, when will it come out and will it even reach the end of development? Stay tuned for 2032 to see how this turns out! Jokes aside, while there is absolutely no way to predict any potential release windows, progress on the mod is going much, much more smoothly than initially expected. The team is growing with time and more skills are developed that make developing the mod a lot easier. Since we are working on this completely on our own spare time, we are able to avoid burnouts, but progress can halt. Our biggest issue will actually be the release of DLCs, due to the changes in the Silksong Unity project. Why are you making this mod? A lot of our team members have been waiting for Silksong for many years, getting excited over areas like the Red Coral Gorge and Hunters' Nest. Some of these areas, in our opinion, could have been given more justice, especially the ants! And well, it's fun to develop stuff, especially when Team Cherry left assets for these areas in the files. What are you using to make this mod? We are using Unity and Playmaker. Why is the mod called Silksoul? The name "Silksoul" is a reference to the cut game-mode "Silk Soul", which was closely tied to 2021-era mechanics. This mod will not bring this game-mode back, due to the lack of information regarding it. What about Steel Soul? Right now, the plan is to keep Steel Soul mode as an optional challenge that is available to play. However, due to the lack of a Steel Soul mode in 2021, we will not be adding the exclusive quest. This may be changed with the release of the Steel Assassins DLC. What about Act 3? Silksoul will not implement Act 3 and the Void in the main mod. This will be something that is tackled in a way future expansion called Silksoul+ that you can download along with the main mod. There is not much to say about this expansion due to potential spoilers and lack of planning regarding it. Can I join the team? We are currently looking for people who wish to help with art, we need assets and animations for a lot of the cut areas that do not exist in the game files.
