Fishing Colorado’s Most Beautiful Lake: Grand Lake Salmon & Lake Trout

This week I headed up to one of my favorite places in Colorado: Grand Lake, the spot where I grew up fishing. This time of year the mountains are stunning — the trees are already changing colors and the mornings start off cool and foggy before giving way to blue skies. I launched the kayak into thick fog and started jigging for lake trout. It didn’t take long before I had fish in the net, and later in the day I even hooked into some beautiful kokanee salmon. Between the fall colors, the fog lifting, and the bites, it was one of those days that reminded me why I love fishing here so much.
