1930 SMITH ENFIELD Mantel Clock
Nice clock, but no pendulum. Any more I try to not buy a clock without the pendulum because most the time it's hard to find one that works or the cost is so high on one just for your clock that it might not be worth buying the clock. At the end of the video, you can hear the hammer hitting the gong, but a loud tick sound is coming from the clock. I discovered that the small wire I put through to hold the hammer on was too small and replaced it with a taper pin. This clock was an easy one to work on. Taking the movement all the way apart and back together again. The clock has some kind of ticking noise when I took the leader out and let the clock start to wind down. I never could pin point where it was coming from. There could have been a bent pivot, but the clock is running fine now and you never hear the noise when the clock is ticking at a normal speed. I did change two bushings after I cleaned the movement. You can contact me at email: [email protected] Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again. A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.
