On the cross, Jesus Christ uttered one of the most powerful words in the Bible: “It is finished.” With this expression, He declared that His mission had been completely accomplished. He bore our sins, overcame the power of sin, and opened the way for us to have forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Nothing remained unfinished; the price was paid in full. Sometimes we feel we must earn our way closer to God, but on the cross, Jesus had already done the perfect work. “It is finished” means that God’s love was demonstrated to the very end and that, through Christ, we can begin anew today.
