St Margaret of Antioch Liverpool - video tour

A leading architect of the Victorian era, George Edmund Street (1824-1881) designed a number of interesting church buildings and notably the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, London. He was chosen as architect of St Margaret's by Robert Horsfall (1807-1881) who wished to provide a Tractarian place of worship [please note - your browser may show an incorrect attribution to his son Douglas]. Various members of the Horsfall family commissioned in total seven churches in Merseyside (see links below) St Margaret of Antioch Parish Church, Toxteth, Liverpool is situated quite near both Cathedrals, and is notable for the quantity and quality of the stained glass windows, with polychromatically decorated walls and roof. Two other outstanding Liverpool churches of the same period are St John the Baptist, Tuebrook [commissioned by Mrs E. Reade] and St Agnes & St Pancras [commissioned by Douglas Horsfall].
