Crowds join in Military Two Step Scottish dance street Ceilidh Pitlochry New Year 2025 Street Party

Crowds join in dancing the Military Two Step, a Scottish Country dance, held during the 2025 Pitlochry New Year Street Party on Atholl Road. This annual event on New Year’s Day is held outside Fishers Hotel in Pitlochry, with compere Eddie Rose, displays by The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and music from Andrew Knight & his Scottish Country Dance Band. Originally devised by James Finnigan in the late 19th Century as the ‘Victoria Cross’ the dance became popular when his daughter published it in the early 20th Century as ‘The Military Two Step’.
