Welcome to Val Grande, the largest wilderness area in the Alps, where nature still has the final say. 🌲 On this circular hike starting from Cossogno (VB), we literally felt like we'd been transported to the set of "The Lord of the Rings." Between ancient bridges and mule tracks, ghost towns, and the rushing force of water, the atmosphere was truly epic and timeless. THE UNEXPECTED EVENT: After crossing the evocative Roman Bridge of Rovegro, we took what appeared to be a path near a small chapel, leaving the main road. Soon, the trail disappeared amidst brambles and fallen trees, forcing us to make a strenuous climb until we found ourselves on the Enel power line. Only later did we discover that that stretch was off-limits. Coming from the woods and not the road, we hadn't seen the signs! An adrenaline-fueled and involuntary adventure that took us straight into the beating heart of the valley.
