Yankee Doodle Dandy - Burt Shepard (1906 Recording)
It makes a change from sharing dance band and personality records of the 1920s and '30s, to feature this record which is the earliest shared on my channel. I've heard it said that Burt Shepard was on the same ship as Fred Gaisberg travelling from the U.S. to England in 1898. It's true to state that Gaisberg did talent scout and Shepard's British recording career began in1898. It seems apt to share this up beat recording on 4th July. Although it's a British recording, both the artist and recording engineer were American. Recorded 9th January 1906 ** Transfer and video by Jonathan Holmes **
