Sound Design Metallic Friction (using Vital)
In this sound design tutorial I'll show you an easy way to create metallic friction sounds using the free soft synth Vital. While these sounds are synthesized, they have a nice organic character to them; they are great for cinematic atmospheres, drones, as layers for other sound effects such as impacts and they can even be used as a braam. I'm using Vital and Ableton stock plugins but it should be possible to replicate this with other synths and other DAWs. 0:00 - The sound 0:20 - Intro 0:30 - Oscillator setup 0:54 - Adding distortion 1:10 - Adding the comb filter 1:39 - Adding the reverb 1:52 - Adding movement 2:06 - Adjusting the master envelope 2:27 - More processing with the sampler 3:10 - Adding more distortion and reverb 3:55 - The sound at different pitches
