ITATIBA / SP - Princesa da Colina - Centro Histórico . 22/10/2025 .

Our tour today is in ITATIBA, SP, through the city's Historic Center. Itatiba is a city in the state of São Paulo. The inhabitants are called Itatibenses. The municipality covers 322.2 km² and had 12,159 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 37.7 inhabitants per km² within the municipality. Neighboring the municipalities of Morungaba, Vinhedo, and Valinhos, Itatiba is located 14 km north-east of Vinhedo, the closest city in the surrounding area. Located at an altitude of 800 meters, Itatiba has the following geographic coordinates: Latitude: 23° 0' 24'' South, Longitude: 46° 50' 19'' West. We walked through a good portion of the city center, around the Basilica Menor do Belém and the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary. Itatiba is a city of character: it grows and develops without sacrificing its principles and personality. The modern and the historic blend in the streets and buildings of this city, with a rural feel and the ambition of a metropolis. The "Princess of the Hill," as it is known, has grown and now has the stature of a "Queen." Itatiba is the city where everyone wants to live. Located 80 km from São Paulo, in the Serra da Jurema mountain range, Itatiba—which in Tupi-Guarani means "a lot of rock"—is affectionately called by its residents the "Princess of the Hill," a title earned due to its rugged terrain. Considered one of the best cities in the state in terms of infrastructure and quality of life, the diversification of economic activities allows Itatiba to avoid seasonal problems and significant economic fluctuations. Itatiba also ranks as one of the best cities in the state of São Paulo to live in, according to a survey commissioned by the State Legislative Assembly and the Seade Foundation. And according to the IFDM (Firjan Municipal Development Index), similar to the United Nations (UN) Human Development Index (HDI), Itatiba is the third-best city in Brazil to live in. The city's economy is driven primarily by industry, with a rapidly growing and expanding hub. The city generates significant interest from multinational companies due to its strategic location, close to the capital and major development regions—the Campinas Metropolitan Region (RMC) and the Jundiaí Administrative Region. Another prominent segment is the furniture industry, internationally recognized for the quality and distinctiveness of its furniture, as well as the textile, metallurgical, chemical, and cutting-edge technology sectors. Agriculture focuses on fruit and vegetables, with a particular focus on persimmon production, a fruit that led the city to be included in the Fruit Circuit Tourist Hub and which has been gaining prominence in agribusiness. To promote and encourage agriculture and tourism in Itatiba, the Persimmon Festival is held annually in the first half of April in partnership with the Casa da Agricultura (House of Agriculture) and rural producers of persimmons and other fruits, vegetables, and legumes. The service sector is one of the largest generators of employment and income in the municipality and occupies a prominent position in the municipal GDP. Taking advantage of its strategic geographic location, the municipality is implementing the guidelines of the Tourism Development Project in a self-sustainable manner, based on tourism, technology, and urban renewal. We enjoyed the city and our visit and once again recommend a visit to everyone. Enjoy your visit!
