Today's tour is in ITATIBA, São Paulo. We visited the Zoopark, including the Natural History Museum. Itatiba is a city in the state of São Paulo. The inhabitants are called Itatibenses. The municipality covers 322.2 km² and had 12,159 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 37.7 inhabitants per km² within the municipality. Neighboring the municipalities of Morungaba, Vinhedo, and Valinhos, Itatiba is located 14 km northeast of Vinhedo, the closest city in the surrounding area. Located at an altitude of 800 meters, Itatiba has the following geographic coordinates: Latitude: 23° 0' 24'' South, Longitude: 46° 50' 19'' West. Zooparque Itatiba boasts 500,000 m² of green space, much of which is located within a fragment of the Atlantic Forest. Therefore, it is an environment rich in natural resources, beautiful landscapes, and trails. Our priority is the quality of life and well-being of the animals. Founded over 20 years ago, Zooparque Itatiba is considered one of the largest zoos in Brazil. Located within a fragment of the Atlantic Forest, the animals live in spacious natural environments that prioritize their well-being and quality of life. Zooparque Itatiba's main philosophy is to promote, through environmental education, awareness among visitors about the importance of preserving the environment. The Zooparque offers themed trails, a Mini Zoo, a sustainable sensory garden, and opportunities for visitors to watch some of the animals that live there being fed. In 2020, ZooParque opened a major attraction: the Natural Art Museum "Journey through the Evolution and Biodiversity of the World," which boasts a 2,400 m² structure and is the first in the country of its kind. Its creation was made possible thanks to supporters from various institutions. This new learning center's mission is to promote knowledge of the natural environment and our role as an integral part of it. Topics covered on the tour include the origin of life on Earth, prehistoric animals, Brazilian dinosaurs, climate change, global climate extremes, human evolution, animal adaptation to the environment, and the Ice Age. ZooParque offers a restaurant, snack bars, a craft shop, souvenir photo services, a playground, and a mini farm.
