The group provided workstream updates covering a water treatment/desalination reference design, an ongoing debate over whether carbon capture (direct air capture versus flue gas from on-site generation) fits within heat reuse scope, and progress toward publishing the TCO tool and its user guide before the Global Summit. Policy updates included an EU industrial heat auction, U.S. state activity in Virginia and Pennsylvania, a policy-search tool demo (which hit technical issues), and forthcoming EU data center energy efficiency labeling. Next steps include an upcoming desalination team presentation, reviving the heat-reuse-readiness checklist, and launching a base specification working group.
