Jully Paola, a 26-year-old cleaning assistant, was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend, William da Mota, in the northern part of São Paulo. The attack occurred after the end of their relationship and despite Jully's attempts to protect herself legally. The couple met three years ago at a subway station when William was on temporary release from prison. Initially attentive, he became violent over time. After physical and emotional abuse during their two-year relationship, Jully decided to end the relationship and seek legal protection. William did not accept the breakup and began stalking her, even cloning her social media accounts and threatening her. Even with a police report and a restraining order, William attacked Jully before the measures could take effect. Hidden in an alley near Jully's house in Jardim Peri, he surprised her with a knife attack as she was returning home. Her screams alerted neighbors, who intervened and prevented the crime from escalating. After the attack, William fled, leaving his backpack behind. He is considered a fugitive by the authorities.
