What happened to Sydney's Monorail?
Sydney's monorail was supposed to be the future of public transport - but just over 10 years ago it was demolished - so what happened? Support me on Ko-Fi! https://ko-fi.com/citymoose When Sydney started the redevelopment on Darling Harbour in the 80s it was decided that the area needed a public transport connection - and this new & flashy precinct needed a futuristic new form of transport to match it: The Monorail. But the monorail was not the instant success the government (and its private operator) hoped it would be - so in this video I'm going to look at why the monorail was never a hit with Sydneysiders, and as a result why it needed to be demolished. I'm also going to look at how it was outcompeted by newer modes of transport like the Light Rail and even a future Sydney metro stop.
