Jerusalem. From Temple Mount to Damascus Gate Tram Stop 🚂

On a quiet day in Jerusalem, I begin my walk from the inner side of the Golden Gate area on the Temple Mount. The Golden Gate is one of the most intriguing and symbolically powerful points in the Old City walls. It faces the eastern side of Jerusalem and is considered one of the oldest sealed gates in the city’s fortifications. Over centuries, it has been associated with expectation, passage, and sacred history, standing silently as a closed entrance that still carries deep meaning for many traditions. Just being here, you feel that this is not an ordinary part of the wall — it feels like a threshold between time, history, and belief. From this starting point, I move upward through the area of the Dome of the Rock. This iconic golden structure dominates the Temple Mount and stands over one of the most historically significant foundations in Jerusalem. It represents centuries of devotion and remains one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. The atmosphere here is calm but deeply powerful, as if every stone holds layers of memory. I continue walking slowly, without rush, letting the space unfold naturally. From the Temple Mount, I descend into the Muslim Quarter of the Old City — a living network of narrow streets, markets, homes, and daily life. This area has been continuously inhabited for centuries, shaped by generations of people who have lived, traded, prayed, and walked these same paths. History here is not distant — it is still alive in every corner. Step by step, I approach Damascus Gate. This is one of the most important and ancient entrances to Jerusalem’s Old City. For a very long time, it has served as a main gateway between the inner sacred landscape of Jerusalem and the outside world. The gate feels alive — filled with movement, voices, and constant transition, as people pass through a place that has never stopped being a crossroads. And finally, I arrive at the tram stop near Damascus Gate. It is a striking contrast between ancient stone walls and modern city life. Here, history does not disappear — it stands right next to the present, unchanged in its presence, while life continues around it. This is not just a walk. It is a slow passage through layers of time, culture, and living history. I walk without hurry… simply observing Jerusalem as it reveals itself step by step. 🚂 From Temple Mount to Damascus Gate Tram Stop 📍 Old City of Jerusalem 🧡 Your support means a lot to me!
