We Slept in Old Monastery in Zanskar | Hitchhiking from Kashmir to Manali | Free lift Series

No bus tickets. No plan. Just us, our backpacks, and the kindness of strangers. We thumbed rides from Kashmir valley through Zanskar, got stranded, and ended up sleeping in a 200-year-old monastery in Rangdum. Monks gave us chai, we woke up to snow peaks, and hit the road again toward Pensi La → Padum → Manali. This is what real Himalayan travel looks like. We started in Kashmir and stuck our thumbs out toward Manali. After 2 days of trucks, army convoys, and "no space bhai", we reached Rangdum village at sunset. Too late to go further, freezing cold, and everything closed. Then a monk from 200-year-old Rangdum Gompa saw us shivering and said "come inside". We spent the night in the monastery, drank butter tea at 4am with the lamas, heard the morning prayers echo through the valley, and left with a full heart.
