Sanctus (Ola Gjeilo) - CUC Wind Symphony
March 16, 2018 - Chapel of Our Lord - River Forest, IL Conducted by Dr. Richard Fischer Sanctus (2007/2017) Ola Gjeilo Sanctus was one of two commissions I received from Norwegian choir Uranienborg Vokalensensemble in 2004. Sanctus is perhaps dearest to me of all my choral works. I have always loved setting liturgical Latin texts, and the Sanctus text is so simple and beautiful; I felt inspired and moved while writing it, and can only hope that this comes across in the music. -Ola Gjeilo Ola Gjeilo was born in Norway in 1978, and moved to New York in 2001 to begin his composition studies at the Julliard School after two years at the Royal College of Music in London. He especially enjoys writing for choir, orchestra/symphonic winds, and the piano. As a pianist, his main passion is improvisation - either solo or over his own ensemble works.
